I have two amazing lippies for this review. One is a liquid lipstick and the other is a lip lacquer.
First of the two is Colourpop’s Ultra Satin Lip “TIME SQUARE”.
This is a stunning muted pink beige color in a matte finish. The color is gorgeous. I have always been a fan of Colourpop Cosmetics. For the price and the quality? You can’t really argue on it. I think I have a whole box of their products already. Teehee.
Consistency is very creamy and does not come out streaky. This dries down to a matte finish and is very pigmented for a nude-base lipstick.
This lippie is matte finish but but but… I figured putting over a lip lacquer over it will give it that “wet lips” look.
My lip lacquer choice is Marc Jacobs’ Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer “SUGAR SUGAR”
This is a lip lacquer that gives your lips a really sultry shine to it. It is a champagne gold color with a gorgeous shimmering finish to it. One swipe and it completely covers the lips.
The lip lacquer delivers maximun color too. Consistency is of course, glossy. So it is more viscous than liquid lipsticks or lip stains. But it is not super tacky, just enough to deliver that brilliance and adhere on the shimmer more.
I have seen vloggers and MUAs rave about this lip lacquer and to tell you the truth, I did see what they liked about it. It’s not just because of the name, but because of its formula as well.
Here are swatches for both lippies, with flash and one with natural light:
So for my look, I layered the two together since I felt I wanted really sultry wet nude lips.
Here’s how it looked on me…
Layering the two lippies gave a stunning, stunning new pinkish nude gloss lip. And it was still so moisturizing on the lips. It didn’t feel thick or goopy. You know how when you use any matte lipstick and put over anything glossy it ends up making a mess on your lips? These two did not. They blended really well.
Completely moisturizing. TIME SQUARE did not dry or flake off. Plus with SUGAR SUGAR, it hydrated the lips more. Getting that “wet lips” look I was aiming for.
Since I layered the lip lacquer on, It took out the smudge-proof part of the matte lipstick. It wasn’t any problem for me really, I could always put more of both if it faded or transferred off.
I matched it with some bluish grey smokey eyes. I didn’t want to overpower the eye make up I had on that’s why I preferred it with the nude lips.
Gorgeous outcome! I am so loving them two lippies!! The Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-shine Lip lacquer SUGAR SUGAR may be a bit expensive but I assure you it is totally worth it.
So there you have it loved! Another review for you guys. Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I did this review. Check out my instagram and snapchat for #makeupporn, photos and videos I post over there. Plus mini reviews too.
